Strategies in This Time of Change


Schedule your days so that you get the most out of your days and so that you don’t fall into bad habits. This is the perfect time to make more time for you, family (biological or not) and fun.

Creative Endeavors

Is there a project that you’ve been putting off? What a great time to start working on it! If you have kids or you're a kid at heart, play games, create, have philosophical conversations or philosophical journal entries, have a dance party.


Work Productivity

Plan to spend 1-3 hours to work with zero distractions. Turn off all notifications. If you have something to do or somewhere to be, you can set an alarm so that you don’t miss it. If you have kids, have your partner spend time with the kids while you work, break together and then you can spend time with the kids while your partner works. You will find that you will be more productive and you will also get more quality time with your family.

Schedule time to check email and social media after you have done your work.


Meal Plans

Plan to eat at specific times so that you don’t end up snacking all day. If you are less active you may want to have a smaller portion size. If you are more active, you may want to consider a larger portion size. By eating foods that are more nutrient dense, you are less likely to have cravings.


Social Interaction

Make plans with friends and family to either get together, assuming everyone is healthy or plan to talk to each other as much or as little as you would like; to share, laugh, and enjoy each others company.



Home workouts

Whether you have exercise equipment or not, there are basic movements that you can do to increase your strength and your confidence. If you like yoga, there are some videos on YouTube that you can follow or even better, there are professionals, like Shelly Prosko, who have online classes to help you get the most out of your yoga practice. There are many yoga and exercise videos that you can find online that are designed for you to do at home. I do recommend finding a reputable professional. If you are unsure, contact a personal trainer that you trust to either, do online training sessions with you or to help you decide what is best for you.


Sample Schedule

7am Wake up, eat, shower

8am-11am Work

11am-Noon Respond to emails

Noon-2pm Play time with family and friends

2pm-4pm Finish and small tasks for work

4pm-5pm Go for a walk, home workout

5pm-6:30pm Supper

6:30pm-8:30pm Spend time with family- reading, watching a movie, playing a board game or card game, talk
