"What sets you apart?" I get this question a lot lately. It's a fair question!
In grade 9 (2000), I decided to pursue the path of personal training. I started studying to be a personal trainer at the University of Saskatchewan in 2005. I now have, 15 years of intentional education and eight years of practical experience in the health and fitness industry. I have worked with athletes (youth, amateur, professional, Olympians, and athletes transitioning out of competitive sport), sport teams, rehabilitation clients, and general public, in Saskatoon and Toronto. I am a Certified Exercise Physiology, a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, I am completing the certification to be a Holistic Coach, and I am letting go of my Registered Yoga Teacher certificate. A few of the courses, workshops, and conferences I have attended include, Pilates, yoga, TRX, Functional Movement Systems, Olympic-style weight lifting, rehabilitation, strength & conditioning, stretching, earth sustainability, and indigenous reconciliation.
I have leaned that, everything is connected. Everyone is different. Most things "depend." Most things are a gray area. The great thing about these statements is that, I will never know it all, but I have the ability to adapt based on what is happening now and there is always an opportunity to learn what I do not know. Somethings work for the majority and other things work for a few. It makes my job more enjoyable and it keeps me humble. My journey has led me to, what I would call, holistic personal development. To teach clients how to be more self aware so that they can develop better wellness practices because they are in-tune with what their body needs and wants. The more self aware you are, the more resilient, strong, and productive you can be! Knowing when to back off, when to push is key to maintaining your inner beast. No one likes dealing with an exhausted, angry bear; but an intelligent, strong, and determined bear is to be admired!
So, what sets me apart is my approach to your personal development. My passion to help you to be more self aware in all areas of wellness. By knowing who you are and learning how to change and adapt as your body needs, will allow you to be more productive, have more fun, and have better relationships. If this is something that you’re looking for, I would be happy to help you get there!
